Moving into 2015, an even greater amount of tech-trance DJs have been dabbling in psy-trance, breeding a unique progressive sound that embodies both sub-genres. “Buenos Aires,” written by Pharmacy Music leaders Christopher Lawrence and Fergie And Sadrian, is a stunning example of this modernized trance sound. A dark ambience is present throughout the track, whether heard in the sorrowful piano melody during the breakdown or the creepy minor arpeggios in the background. Though it employs the 16th note bassline typical of psy-trance, thundering tech synths balance it out to make a perfect combination of the styles. Written to emulate the energy of Buenos Aires at peak club hours, Lawrence, Fergie, and Sadrian have undoubtedly achieved their goal.
