iVibes predicts Pharmacy’s biggest year yet in this review of Christopher Lawrence’s The Dark
The New Year is starting off with a bang for trance legend Christopher Lawrence as he releases his brand new solo single ‘The Dark’ with a remix from Casey Rasch..
Christopher Lawrence fans have a lot to look forward to this year not just from him but also his Pharmacy Music label. This could be the year we may see a solo artist album that has been rumoured for a while from Christopher. He’s been around the scene for over two decades so it must come sooner rather than later. His first single of 2014 is a good indication of his intend for the new year with a full on psy acid trip on a track he calls ‘The Dark’.
The passion and drive for a good trance tune is still alive and well within Christopher Lawrence and he’s opened his 2014 account with a real beauty. The tempo is well and truly raised with this slightly acid infused psy trance trip with bubbling basslines and ripping melodies. This is one of the more flowing pieces of trance I’ve heard from Christopher for a while with a thumping main beat and bursts of energy coming from some very atmospheric riffs. The addition of a short tiny ‘You’re not afraid of the Dark’ vocal gives this tune a dark underground feeling.
While Christopher’s remix has a psy influence, the psy sound is raised up a notch with Casey Rasch’s remix that ups the BPM by a few and goes full on acid psy trance. The beat has a slightly hard edge to the original and he leads with some killer acid lines. This fresh new producers talents with production are all here on display and its not surprising his list of supporters include Simon Patterson, Nick Sentience and of course Christopher Lawrence. For those of you who like their trance banging with acid lines, this is the mix for you.
Conclusion:
What a way to open the New Year with ‘The Dark’ from Christopher Lawrence. It’s a statement of intend that this will be the best year yet for Pharmacy Music and with talents like Casey on their books the signs point that it will be.
