[HarderFaster] Magnus – Forward Command

To Pharmacy Music we go and the new release from Magnus. This one has a psychedelic feel to it. Comprising two tracks; the title track and the b-side Eclipse, this is epic and potent trance with a tech feel to it.

Forward Command

Powered by a rumbling bassline and vocal samples, the title track has a touch of the psychedelic about it but is dominated by a mainstream trance body and epic effects. That bubbling bassline sounds ace and while the track isn’t full-on pedal to the metal, it still has the power to make people move. This is going to be on a lot of forward-thinking DJs’ setlists I’d imagine. I like the vocal edits and the general psychedelic-like bassline. Halfway through the track, everything disappears and you get the beat and wobbly bassline on their own before everything builds up again. On the whole, this is a good trance track; it typifies a style of trance that is coming back into the mainstream. Potent music that needs to be heard.

Eclipse

Eclipse is deeper and darker. Still using the psychedelic-like bassline, this b-side shows a different side to the release; going more euphoric and driving and using a simple riff to power things along. This one is more of a grunter and, as I said at the start, goes darker in sound but adds a wee bit more menace to proceedings. One to get the trance crowds happy? Certainly the darker crowd will like this. But for me though, its Forward Command.
