No More / Tryptamine Land
Black Marvin continues to impress us with his ultra trippy progressive psy trance. Canadian DJ and Producer Francis Bousquet has carved out a niche for himself in the world of progressive psy. He has a contemporary psy sound with his use of effects and clean production but the style and mood of his tracks is reminiscent of late 90s progressive house where the track takes its time in a constantly evolving and mind altering trip.
Black Marvin lays out a hypnotic groove with hallucinogenic effects and vocal samples punctuating the rhythm. Black Marvin says of the track “No More is really about personal growth, removing fear from our lives and when you dive fully into the beauty of things everything falls into place. In the track you can hear David Icke’s voice that I sampled talking about fear being an illusion.” We think Black Marvin nailed it.
Tryptamine Land is a perfect example of his unique sound. Black Marvin “wanted to bring the track to a super trippy vibe. A track to ‘weird things out’ on the dancefloor. When the beat goes back from the breakdown I wanted the bass to feel like a wall of sounds ramping from all the frequencies to wash over the listener’s face.” Listen to the track from start to finish to appreciate the beauty of the track. An eerie melody and robotic voice give way to a discordant breakdown that contains within it a hidden heavenliness.
